Mini cooper dealers are the only ones that can program the daytime running lights to be on or off. It doesnt matter if the headlight switch is set to on off or automatic they still stay on while the car is on.

My mini cooper wouldnt start 4 weeks ago.
Mini cooper headlights wont turn on.
Adding relays simply gives a new heavy duty source of 12v dc for the headlamps and the relays are triggered by those wires that used to feed the headlamps.
Headlight technology isnt terribly complex but there are a lot of different ways that headlights can fail.
However the sunroof works the radio works the heater works the windshield wipers front and back work.
So if you find that your headlights have suddenly stopped working its important to take note of the type of failure youre dealing with and go from there.
Headlights stay on and blinkers and windows dont work.
I cannot find a way to turn any of them off.

Headlight problems i recently about a month ago bought a 2003 mini cooper s and the headlights worked perfectly when i got the car.
A couple of days ago the right headlight didnt turn on so i turned off the headlights and turned them on again and it kicked on.
If the headlamps switch is fine the dimmer is fine and the wiring up front is fine then the lights will work again.
When i unlock the doors or open the barn doors the headlights tail lights brake lights dome light side running lights.
Turn key and weird clicking of window tachometer speedometer dash lights blink weird.
Battery checked its fine only one year old.
If they are on they will turn on every time the ignition has been started and the car is put in gear.
